What is Lisa’s History Honors?

Want an Honors section of my class when there isn’t an Honors class offered? Here’s your chance!

Students enrolled in my online History classes may select the Honors Contract option, but you must apply to the instructor (me, Lisa M Lane) and be selected.

The Honors Contract allows selected individual students to take an Honors version of the class, which enrolls you in a separate Honors section and shows as an Honors class on your MiraCosta transcript. You will remain as a student in the base section of the class so you can participate, but much of your work will be different.

Applications must be submitted to me by Monday, August 15 to be considered. (This allows time to sign the contract, drop you from the base class and add the Honors class before the deadline.) When you apply for the Honors contract, keep in mind that once in the Honors Contract, you cannot revert to being a regular student in the class.

By the end of the second week of class, contracts are set with Administration and contract students are transferred into an “H” section of the class.

Each Honors Contract is created individually. To apply, fill out the application form here. Check your email daily to discuss with me. If approved, I’ll send you a contract, which will need to be filled out and signed electronically within a day or so. That contract is submitted to the dean for signature, then forwarded to the registrar.
