Why I Study History

Growing up my friends hated studying history. They thought it was boring and dull, nothing more than memorizing dates and people. They didn’t see the value or purpose in learning about the past. I was the opposite I loved studying history and felt there were so much the past could teach us.

One of the things that history teaches us is the importance of our choices. Every historical figure that we study was once just an ordinary person, granted some had higher status then others but when it comes down to it they were just people going after what they wanted in life. They could not have known that the choices they made and the actions they took would have such an effect on the world. History shows us that the choices we make every day may have an effect on the world and it also serves as a warning to not enter into anything lightly because you never know the consequences of your actions.
