My Topic: The Chinese Cultural Revolution

China, today one of the world’s most powerful industrialized nations, was a chaotic society in the mid-20th century. The leadership decisions of Mao Zedong and his associates allowed for millions of killings by anti-reactionary Red Guards. The Cultural Revolution was among the biggest disasters in modern Chinese history, and is officially regarded by the Communist Party as a huge mistake. I want to study this, and come to a better understanding of the causes behind these atrocities, and the reasons why intellectuals were one of the groups most heavily affected.
