Today we invited the children to use eye droppers to color coffee filters with liquid watercolor. The children had the opporutunity to observe how watercolor get abosorbed into the coffee filter. In addition, the children also got to see how colors can combine to make new colors. Some children decided to use different types of paper to see if the watercolor will react the same way. They discovered that some paper are more absorbent than others. They also discovered that if the paper is tilted slightly, the watercolor drips down the paper.

Many of the activities that are set out in the classroom often cross varoius domains of development. Through this activity, children were able to explore how liquid moves from high to low places, how colors can be combined, and about absorbency.
