WEEK 10 – POTCERT

I have read Chapter 7, viewed the great videos, read the blog postings from other POT cert participants, signed up for Engrade, and created a Google site.  Each week we are gently introduced to this great technology and teaching tools.  So much to view and learn from.  Very excited about putting all of this into practice.  It is great to be able to slowly upgrade my class information with my current students.  I have been able to add info about Youtube sites that will certainly help in their understanding about medical insurance billing.   The students have also been communicating with each other online with information they discover.  I have been giving them a lead and they then have been exploring.  The idea of upgrading a blog site or Google site is very appealing as I teach at several schools, and with a blog I can create one universal site for information.

I have the advantage of using a great site, Blackboard, at MiraCosta, and also have the advantage of the great information sites that Karen has created.  In my medical billing class we are currently working on resumes and the site in student services here at MiraCosta for creating a resume has been a great link for them.

With each week we have been given great tools to provide a lively and engaging arena for our students to feel engaged and connected.  The only thing holding me back is my creativity.  So, the gauntlet has been thrown.  I just finished a 10 week teaching assignment which now will free me up to explore  in depth some of the great information sites that I have discovered through this process.  Well, back to the computer and the world of technology.  Jump in and hold on.
