Joyful Tidings #21: It’s Here, It’s Here, The New PDP Website Is Here!

Greetings Colleagues:

PDP has combined and moved its previous two websites into one simply spectacular Canvas site. You can now find us here: Cool, Shiny, New PDP Canvas Site.

But don’t worry, if you forget about this momentous change in the history of the college — nay, the history of higher education itself — you will find a redirect link at our old site: Old, Abandoned, and Shamelessly Discarded Site.

Please take the time to explore the new site; I think you will be able to complete a quick tour in no more than 10 to 15 hours.

(Shouldn’t there be some kind of smiley face after that 10-15 hour thing?)

Missing emoticons aside,  we have tried to create a place where you can still do the traditional PDP site tasks like request travel funds and work on your flex transcript. But we have also worked to build in cool new options like our Project Joy page where  you can investigate faculty led teaching and learning initiatives and dialogue with colleagues in facilitated discussions made possible by the magic of canvas  (Jim Julius made me say that!).

Here’s what things should like like when you enter the Joyful world of PDP in Canvas:

The site is a work in progress, so you can expect to see regular additions and updates. We also particularly invite any observations you have about any small details about the site that are out of whack. Feedback on broken links, proofreading issues, and missing  forms, etc. are most welcome. Please alert us to these issues by emailing Sunny Cooke, who has graciously volunteered to handle the minute by minute, non-functioning link by non-functioning link management of this exciting new gathering place for our campus conversation about teaching and learning.

(Shouldn’t there be some kind of smiley face after that joke about mailing minor corrections to the college president?)

On a less serious note…I would be remiss to announce this new site without thanking last year’s PDP committee which did much of the conceptualization and organization of this site; Debby Adler who put in many hours of work on everything from presentation, and organization to moving/consolidating the two sites; and Lisa Lane who invariably comes up with brilliant solutions to the various problems I create for her in both our Canvas and Joyful Teaching sites.

Thanks to all who helped put this site together and to the many faculty whose amazing work on campus we have finally begun to share with our larger community. This is only a beginning — the smallest of downpayments.

We have all sorts of wonderful work by our colleagues to add as our year of joyful teaching continues!
