This week there were several fun and exciting things that happened in Room 4.
STRUCTURES:
One thing that was particularly exciting was the development of the structures project. We were planning to put the plywood scraps away, but the children started to use them again! To see what they did, visit this photo album:

Then, to make it even more exciting, the teacher showed some children these photos today and then the children went and built the structure again!
JUICING ORANGES:
One of the families brought in oranges from their tree and an electric juicer. We used their juicer and some hand juicers to make fresh orange juice twice this week! To see the photos, please visit this album:

Squeezing oranges to make juice is a great STEM activity (science, technology, and mathematics are included). It takes a lot of oranges to make a little bit of juice (measurement). The juicer is a great technology tool! We also talked about which juicer worked better: the electric one or the hand-held one. We tested our predictions and made observations (science)! It also tasted great and was super healthy.
GAME CENTER:
It is fun to see how children are using some of the games together in our “game center.” The sand timers, spinners, and dice have been a great hit! The teamwork and turn-taking are fun to observe. Plus, the children have been deciding the “rules” of the games on their own!

SCIENCE – PREDICTIONS:
The children also explored ramps this week. To see some of their predictions and the results, check out this documentation:
