We are the Program for Online Teaching, a group of volunteer faculty helping other faculty teach better online.
Our focus is on pedagogy as the guiding force for using technologies for teaching. Many of us are from MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. MiraCostans may access the Teaching/Technology Innovations Center for technical help, resources, news and more. The POT Network

More samples of how faculty teach their online classesWe have several short tutorials at the POT site where our MiraCosta faculty demonstrate their online classes: Jim’s English 202 Yavapai College in Arizona also has an active online faculty, and they have been posting Showcase videos. Take a look for great ideas – all are linked from the main page at POT. Updating your online course information just got easier!SURF now links the word “Online” directly to the MCC Distance Education page, so please update your classes every semester.
POT highly recommends that you create an information page for your class on the web. See Pilar’s tutorial on making a simple welcome page using Google Sites. POT Certificate Class starts September 1Would you like to earn a POT Online Teaching Certificate? The next cohort begins September 1. The Certificate has been streamlined, and now consists of a single Certificate Class, taken for 12 weeks in each semester. No more workshops required, on campus attendance, or OT number designations required – just two semesters of online learning, reading, playing and community. You can see the draft syllabus here. Weekly tasks include readings, experimenting with online tools, and posting to your blog. Don’t want the full class but want to learn on your own? Join us for any portion of the class at any time! The Certificate Class is offered as an open course, available to all — we already have faculty signed up from other colleges and elsewhere on the globe. The class is free, and is taught by POT facilitators. See the POT Certificate page for details.
